S1500 technical information

All 1500 systems are based on TI's NuBus bus system. The NuBus is a multiplexed 32-bit bus with a maximum transfer rate of 40 (?) MB/sec. Apple used the NuBus in it's Macintosh II, Quadra and PowerMacintosh computers.

The 1500 supports up to 4 CPU's on the NuBus. Additionally, each I/O board, like the NUPI SCSI controller or the CCB Communication Carrier Board, usually has a 68000 (or higher) CPU of it's own.

The CPUs used in the 1500 series range from 16 MHz 68020's to 25 MHz 68040's. There are three different types of 1500 systems:
